ChocEtiq - General Parameters

Choice of the language: if the resources multilangues are available, you can choose the use of Chocetiq in the language of your choice.

To preserve the position of the windows while leaving: this option makes it possible to reposition the standard window with last position defined by the user.

Sound buttons: determine if the buttons must be sound or not.

To propose the choice of the printers: for the printouts which do not use the generator of state, allows to choose before the impression the default printer. If this option is not activated, the impression is directly carried out on the default printer.

To leave without confirmation: allows to leave the application by the order “Quit” or the button of closing of window without confirming. So differed impressions exist, Chocetiq proposes their consultation/impression.

Automatic calculation of the shelf life of the packages: if this option is not activated, the user can freely define the maximum shelf life of a package, as well as the unit of duration and mention ED (Expiration date) or BBD (Best before date).

If the option is activated, information over the shelf life of the package is deduced from those of the products which compose the package, while regarding as maximum duration of the package, the shortest duration of the products, and by imposing mention ED as soon as one of the products of the package is defined in ED.

Default values: determine the preferences of the user, for and the period measuring unit of shelf life, which will be used on the new record for products or packages. In the same way, option BBD or ED is immediatly proposed for products at parameter defined hereest directement (by default, BBD).

Choice of the bottom: the user can choose one of the three basic images available, or a uniform brown bottom.

Fontsize for grids : define size for displaying chars in all grids, to  8 or 10 points.

Management of the database

Repair and compression of the database: the purpose of this operation is “repair” the possible errors in the database. Indeed, certain problems, fortunately excessively rare, at the time of the writing in the base, can damage the format of the database and make it illegible. In addition, the database, made up of a single file, is a “envelope” of data of increasing size: at the time of an addition, its size extends, at the time of a destruction, space is released inside this “envelope”, but the total size is not decreased for as much. After many handling, the size of the base can thus be unnecessarily excessive, and the operation of Compaction will reduce it to its size useful minimum.

Note: the compaction uses a temporary file of the size of the database. It is thus necessary to have on disc of a space equivalent to the size the base.

To record the base: allows to carry out a copy of the database under another name.

Statistics: post the number of recording of the various tables of the database (see also Structure)

Safeguards:

Autosaving: The autosaving makes it possible to safeguard the database quickly when the application is left. This safeguard is carried out in an accessible repertory (local hard drive or network).

The not dated safeguard carries out a simple copy of your database under its name of origin, by thus crushing the former safeguard. If your disc is of great capacity, it will be thus preferable to use a dated autosaving, where the database is safeguarded under the current date (for example 20061231.mdb for on December 31st, 2006).

Note 1: if the repertory of destination does not exist, it is automatically created.

Note 2: to restore a safeguard, it is possible to use the ordering of management of safeguarded, but also to proceed manually. For example within the framework of a safeguard dated with dictionary it is enough to recopy the backup file of the base (for example 20061231.mdb) towards the file chocetiq.mdb of the repertory of the application.

To launch the safeguard manually: carry out, according to the same parameters as the autosaving, a safeguard of the data.

Management of the safeguards: so manual or automatic safeguards were created, this order makes it possible to restore them.
